Friends For Rivers Annual Cleanup 2010

| September 16, 2010

Here is another event Central Texas that should draw a large crowd.

From Bill Higdon
The annual Friends of the Rivers clean-up will be Saturday, September 18. We will meet at Cypress Bend Park at 0800 in front of the registration table located by the restroom and playscape. Guadalupe River Trout Unlimited (GRTU) has been a proud sponsor of this event for the last three years and will be cleaning the trophy trout zone around Rio Raft.

From the New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce

“Get on the water and grab a prize! Be part of the cleanup and win a prize for the most trash collected and most unusual piece of trash! All participants receive a free t-shirt. Participants will be in a raft/tube in the water. If you don’t swim, you may work from the banks. Free camping is available on Friday, Sept. 17th and Saturday, Sept. 18th. Event wraps up with a bonfire Saturday night. Registration deadline is August 21, 2010 or 1,000 participants. $2 per person. Thanks to all of our local outfitters and sponsors for their support. All groups are required to have at least 1 adult for every 10 kids. Scouts are eligible for the Hornaday Conservation Unit Award.”

Here is the MAP for that event, and I have a call in to see if they have already closed registration with the 1-thousand participants goal being met. This post will be updated as information comes in.

AND no updates of value came in from New Braunfels.
