Monday Morning Scorch

| June 10, 2024 | 0 Comments
Port Mansfield, Texas. Yesterday morning started early, with sight casting on redfish and then numerous nice speckled trout – all on fly.

ONE THING about down south fly fishing? It’s down south, and just that much closer to the sun. It’s hot, bright hot, like looking out the window of a spacecraft on the surface of a hot planet. But even that is not enough to stop us from hitting the Lower Laguna Madre with determination and honestly, with day-long breaks in between.

I am glad to report to North Texas and all points in between; if you didn’t know already, Los Pescadores is up and running on South Padre Island, and can NOW truthfully be called, a “full service destination fly shop.” And it just so happens to be the ONLY true full service fly shop for more than 100-miles in any direction. You see why I was so keen on doing the retail startup of Los Pescadores on South Padre Island don’t ya’? Enough free promotion though! I’ll make sure to you some interior video in my next Texas Fly Fishing News Report coming NEXT WEEK!

In the interest of seeking out more fish, I am going to stop punching the keyboard now and head east from Harlingen to the most beautiful water on the Texas Gulf Coast – the Lower Laguna Madre – for a little rest and maybe some recreational pool at the Shark Tank in Port Isabel this afternoon with friends.

Thanks for reading, and get ready for the final Father’s Day List coming just in time for the weekend festivities.
