The Next Minute … We’re GONE
[display_podcast]
What a raucous week indeed! Much of the time was spent behind the scenes getting the site back on track, but as I stated before, not only is the site back in stride, it is actually running cleaner and faster now. I’m not sure what Google has done to their search bots, but I’m certainly not complaining about the numbers I am seeing!
More work crept up on me Thursday, as I will be leaving today for a photo shoot in (Sweet Home) Alabama. Photographer Matt Jones was looking for some help on a shoot he’s doing there, and remembered that I knew a little bit about photography, so we’re loading up the plantation and heading toward Montgomery today.
This morning, I am lucky enough to get to spend some time with the folks who signed up for an introduction to fly fishing class here at the Senior Center in Denton, TX. Although I am a Texas Parks & Wildlife certified master angler, that only encompasses traditional fishing techniques, and not the fly fishing certification. It’ll be good to see just how TPWD presents this course, although by reading the literature, I am afraid I may not be on the same page with their basic introductory casting technique.
The idea of learning someone just to unlearn them … I find hardly appealing, but then how many of the people we expose to fly fishing this way actually go on to hugely successful and participatory fly fishing adventures? One-in-a-hundred would be plenty by my calculating.
Another thing I found hardly appealing, and about as exciting as being knee deep in Matagorda mud, was the DVD I purchased from the fine folks at the International Federation of Fly Fishers. It’s the first installment; “Gary Borger – Fifteen Most Common Casting Errors.” Nothing personal to those of you who worship at the IFFF, but I dare you to try and stay awake through this video. It certainly harkens back to another era in DVD making!
I know many of you are waiting for the first, any, or only installment of video from Port O’Connor, and I want to get that to you in a lively, not too short, and not too long way. The setbacks, on even getting to the video, were huge this week. Hang in there and you can quit flaming me in text messages!
