Hybrids On
Whether you call them hybrids, wipers or palmetto (my favorite), make no mistake – bring your elephant gun, or I will say I told you so! There is a long story that goes with the past two days of fishing, but suffice it to say, the location where these specimens were probably no longer holds these guys.
Getting a lot of requests, so here are the images, and if you want details, check “The Frey” for a post on the illusive Texas Salmon (under North Texas Report category) – because they’re running.
And here’s a blast from the past … If you like down and dirty video of creek hybrids, this should raise your blood pressure a bit.

Good old clousers, synthetic, red over white — typical stuff. Eight weight rod to maintain good pressure in the current. I am learning that in slower water they run for branches and structure to wrap around and break, while in current they just turn against you and hold, and hold, and hold – current adds serious power to their fight, and side pressure is a MUST.
good pics, ready to see some of that action myself. What types of flies were you throwing? gotta gear report?
It was a great party – lasted two days for me, and I am still hungover.
Dang a lang a lang them are big old fishes !!
Nice work, now I can’t get fishing off of my mind…. 🙂
The only people that complain about fish porn are the ones NOT in the pictures!
What?! Nobody calls me on the fish porn? Just checking to see if anyone is awake out there. Actually, the second photo is “for the record” books. Spring has sprung.
