Backcasting for 2010-03-20 Hybrid Bass Video

It’s always a treat to take a guru out and show them a thing or two about how the student has learned. In this case, I was able to get guide Joel Hays, of Denton, Texas, out and on some palmetto bass in the flow earlier this week. If you are a local, you know the location, and I did see plenty of fly guys there the day after my main post on Tuesday. “I always feel like somebody’s watching me”, but then that would be Ego Eating Brain – or what’s left of it from this bizarre week.

  • #flyfishing At the TPWD Freshwater Fisheries in Athens. Dudes dudes up – everywhere. #
  • #flyfishing Palmetto bass on fly this morning. That party is over as they just cut the flow at the dam. Which dam? https://texasflycaster.com #
  • #flyfishing What exactly beats a 10 pound hybrid? A six pound hybrid with photograph of course! Always Always Always bring your own camera. #
  • #flyfishing Closeup pictures of Wilderness Systems Commander 120 on TFC tomorrow. Seeing a Diablo in person manana. Sandies are rocking. #
  • #flyfishing Took the Diablo for a spin this morning. No need to hype it – it's the real deal. http://www.diablopaddlesports.com/ #

  • Hard rain coming. Maybe they will overfill and open the valve again? I don’t want anyone to suffer from flooding … just sayin’.

  • Combat on the East side, and all quiet on the Western Front! Hint Hint.

  • Where one lake exits and heads down to the partyin’ lake?

I may head that way if its not combat fishing already. Just hoping I can stay off of those rocks.

  • I think we can find action in shallow until the end of April, if my old notes serve me well. TFC
