What Comes After Biblical?

Science Fiction, Of Course!

Good Monday Morning! Your piece of Texas may be rolling through another Texas week this week, but the biblical science fictional flooding footage just keeps coming to those of us nearby Lake Texoma. Have a look at the video sent to me – BELOW.

The mighty Red has put the hurt on Texoma, and if you ever doubt the superiority of Mother Nature, go ahead and search YouTube now, using “lake Texoma floods” as your lead-in to a Costner-like “Waterworld” that looks almost like science fiction. From the Lake itself to the Denison Dam – Texoma has gone under.

TODAY’S FISHFOTO – Comes From Oklahoma’s Calvin Pravongviengkham, who caught this koi-carp cross over the weekend near OK CIty.

AT HOME

At home? There is no rain in the forecast until this weekend, where the chances perk up a bit JUST IN TIME for a bike ride event I am shooting here in Denton, Texas, called the Positive Cycology Ride It’s for a great cause, and if you ride, something I am coming back around to this year in a wholistic way, you might want to consider this ride!

The MMI Crew Pulls a Rabbit

For the folks subscribed to the YouTube Channel as “Members,” and those of you who take the time to watch, you’ve heard of my crack video crew, who I sawed off to the abbreviation MMI. Well that crew found a new studio set nearby the bulging shores of Lake Ray Roberts, and those “Members” will get a first look at it today! There’s nothing like conducting “grand experiments” at the ripe young age of 63! This new location came along much quicker than I expected, brought on by some of the “belt tightening” of tenants who have been subjected to the meltdown of their retirement accounts under the current administration’s whimsical first six months in power. Their loss? My gain. Thanks MMI Crew for pulling a rabbit out of the ball cap.

The Week Ahead

This week Looks like reconnaissance all week long. And yes, some of that will look like disaster tourism from your perspective. Once again, we have feast-and-famine scenarios on North Texas lakes with little obvious logic applied by the USACE to how this spring is being managed. Truthfully, there have been better years for the USACE than the last one and this one. They seem to be struggling with the reality that Texas weather patterns have a pattern now – EXTREME. We shall see …

This kind of inundation means we have to think outside the box – starting now. I’ll be bringing you the numbers this week – what I can find for this region’s lakes and rivers, levels and flows respectively. With the reprieve we have had the last few days, I would guess many have crested levels for now. In my opinion, if USACE lets off the gas pedal? It is way too soon to do so (decreasing releases at dams). I have never ever witnessed them to do anything that resembles “preemptive” and release BEFORE the floods come. This year was no exception. At least the USACE has not been “DOGE’d” out of existence … yet.

As You Can See

As you can see – THIS MONDAY is all over the map! And that is as it should be, with temperatures in North Texas looking to hit 100 midweek, and 110 in areas out west of San Antonio – all we can say is what next? Well … thankfully this heat is not out over the Gulf of MEXICO! If the heat does shift to the Gulf this soon? this early? there may be another name change in the offing – HURRICANE ALLEY. That water needs to stay cool a lot longer, a lot later into the year, before the inevitable comes back at us. I need to hear from my Texas Coast readers! Is any of this insane runoff making it to the Texas Gulf Coast inshore now?

Free Fly Line Winder – Video

I came across a line winder, for putting fly line on reels, that I want to show you! It was actually free, and the darn thing works VERY WELL. I shot a video of it, because you just have to see it. When I say free, I will explain that a bit more in this video. Let’s just say – you will need access to one of those 3D printers and a few nuts and bolts.

THANKS AS ALWAYS for reading! The pace is incredible now. Winter seems like a year or more ago now, doesn’t it?
