Living Waters Fly Fishing Shop News and Calendar

| September 13, 2011

Greetings Fellow Fly Fishers,

It has been a hot, dry summer to say the least and I am sure it has kept many of you off the water. Our hearts and prayers go out to everyone in Texas who is sufferring loss because of the recent fire outbreak. We are still praying for rain but the recent onset of cooler weather is a welcome respite from the sweltering heat of central Texas. The Llano river still has water to fish around Junction and Brushy Creek is still fishing surprisingly well. The Colorado and San Marcos are both still flowing and we have heard a good number of reports for both rivers. As for the Guadalupe, the flow is stable, around 68cfs, and the water up near the dam is still chilly in the mid 50’s. There are always some trout in the Guadalupe and as long as you aren’t fishing in areas where water temps are above 70 degrees then the fish will be fine — we caught several healthy rainbows a few weeks back and every last one swam off happily with plenty of energy. As for the rest of the Guadalupe, warm water species, such as bass and sunfish, are still present and can be caught on the standard go to flies. If you have any questions regarding any of the rivers mentioned above or simply need a little more info just drop by the shop or call (512) 828-FISH.

Below is a calendar of events for September. We want to do our best to keep people out on the water and if you aren’t fishing right now then we want to keep you prepped and ready for the next time you visit your favorite river, lake or creek.

Another thing we wanted to announce is that our new website should be live in the next week or two so keep checking www.livingwatersflyfishing.com for updates.

FLY TYING NIGHT NEWS: We will be changing dining locations for fly tying night to Garcia’s Mexican Restaurant right here in downtown Round Rock starting in September. Garcia’s said they would be happy to host the fly tying group and we want to do our part in supporting another local business! We also want to give a huge shout out and gigantic THANK YOU to Pok E Jo’s BBQ for helping the Thursday night fly tying group out by providing great BBQ and giving us a discount as well!!
