GRTU Fall Chapter Meeting – Nov 16th @ Lazy L&L

The GRTU Fall Chapter Meeting will be held Saturday, Novemeber 16 at the Lazy L&L Campground in New Braunfels, TX from 11 am – 2 pm. The event will feature instruction on Tenkara, guest speaker Alice Owsley, and in addition to an update on GRTU Chapter Affairs, a vote on revised GRTU bylaws.

The “Learn to Tenkara” instruction will be conducted by Chris Johnson of Living Waters Fly Fishing in Round Rock, TX and will run from 9:30a-10:45a, prior to the meeting. If you are interested in learning more about this technique and the equipment involved, please join us as Chris shares his knowledge and passion for Tenkara.*** We’ll have coffee and donuts available for this early group.

Our guest speaker, Alice Owsley, is the owner of West Yellowstone-based, Riverside Anglers. If you’d like to learn about fishing West Yellowstone and methods to catch more trout, Alice is the person to do exactly that for you.

We will also will be reviewing and conducting a member vote on proposed revisions to our bylaws.

Periodically chapter leadership proposes revisions to the chapter bylaws. The intent is to have bylaws that aid in effectively and efficiently managing chapter activities and governance. Most of the proposed changes are clarifications to the existing bylaws. In this version, we also more clearly define duties and expectations for the GRTU Board of Directors.

GRTU’s bylaws include sections mandated by the Trout Unlimited national organization, to protect our non-profit standing and to ensure alignment between local chapters and the national organization.  None of those sections have been changed.

The adoption of revisions to the bylaws is voted on in a chapter meeting by chapter members. GRTU leadership is required to advise membership of proposed changes to the bylaws 30 days in advance of the vote for adoption.  The current bylaws may be found at http://www.grtu.org/about/ , he proposed revised bylaws can be found at http://www.grtu.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/GRTU-Bylaws-Committee-final-revision-proposal-for-chapter-approval-10-9-19-ver-1.pdf.

GRTU president Rafael Torres created a bylaws committee to review and make recommended updates to the current bylaws.  We would like to publicly thank the committee members for volunteering their time and skills in this effort.

Voting on the revised bylaws will occur in the November chapter meeting.
