Get Your Waders Out!

Weather Pattern Takes a Turn for the Wetter (AGAIN!)

How about a swirl of a Pacific hurricane passing over some of Texas? These are the strange days, aren’t they? Cold in the east, a Baja bound Pacific hurricane that holds together long enough to cross Texas … stay tuned, and be sure to watch/listen on YouTube at MaxVelocity. This kind of weather reporting IS the future of weather reporting. Those waves on PB and Oceanside should be marvelous surfing! Those were the days!

Back home, once the upcoming weekend of unstable weather passes? We are back to broil here in Texas. But the temperatures are supposed to moderate a bit. These old folks … all they do is talk about the weather, right? Last old folks weather comment; we had four inches of rain here at North Camp over the last four days.

Small Outboard Transom Saver

I don’t have a catchy marketing name for a funny looking piece of steel that I bent and welded into a shape that works for stabilizing my Mercury 30-hp on these North Texas roads that continue to suck, suck the life out of my trailer and auto one pothole at a time. I do have the theory that I am not the only one with this problem (see my fly line mats). All I am sure of? IT WORKS.

There is nothing quite like launching a “never been seen before” product. So many questions that can’t be answered, except with hindsight. It reminds me of the old Letterman skit, “Will it Float?” At least the up front investment was in my budget. Splash with a little experience, hold your breath and we’ll see what happens. If you are reading this, let me know how to find local Suzuki and Yamaha motor dealerships so I can get a look at those outboards – for compatibility!

The Wholistic Fly Fisher© Series Continues

The last thing any fly fisher wants to hear is, “… Drop the donut, and put down that beer! And give me ten!” But there’s a number, a number we only know is coming or that we passed it without realizing, and that number is an age where these things matter, they prevent us from fly fishing, and we may just feel bad ALL the time – not just when we have to exert ourselves. The next few Wholistic installments, in the last remaining months of this year, are dedicated to only two topics:

  • The Ultimate Balancing Machine you probably already own.
  • Intake. Body changing / gut changing routines – I am using to lose stubborn visceral fat right now!

For those of you who read more than watch, I hate to tell you because I love you, but a lot of this information will translate much better on the YouTube Channel, and in videos there. It is what it is.

Do You Ever Wonder Why?

Do you ever wonder why we have evolved into dedicating more of our time together to a YouTube Channel – creating fly fishing and wholistic videos? It is because I turned pro photographer in 1987. My connection to my photographic and now video passion is stoked by making videos for you guys! It keeps my visual fire burning, and challenges my technical abilities every single time now. I also try to live a photojournalist’s creed: Pictures need to tell a story, the words of the story do not tell. Many times the topics in words and videos are of the same title, but unless you read, or unless you watch? When it comes to my work, you won’t be getting the WHOLE STORY. Period. Paragraph. I hate to bury this at the bottom of a Tuesday post, but I am sure I will have more to say on this, and how it happened, in future posts. So go ahead and subscribe to this site, and maybe to the Texas Fly Caster YouTube Channel to get notified when new content comes out.
