Another Happy Monday Morning!

| January 28, 2019

I swear I can smell spring on the air. Did you get a smell of it this past weekend? Maybe it’s just the timing of actually having great weekend weather, and not being in my dungeon completely missing out? Whatever the reason for the smell of the season: Good Monday Morning along the Monday Morning Sidewalk.

As nice as the air was this past weekend, that water we fly fish is still frigid. It may actually be time to do whatever it takes to feel a tug, and that includes heading to the Oklahoma prairie to sample some trout on the Blue River. Maybe things will finally align so that a weekend and the weather will come back around to afford less of an Oklahoma stress test.

The weekend also gave me some time to find even more music I missed in 2018, including a complete release by Texas’ famous Wrinkle Neck Mules, who also go by the nom Howler Brothers. Can you believe that? I am not completely surprised at my miss, as their last release was so many years ago. Maybe the wicks have again met?

FLY TYING SPRING EVENT

We are looking at a weekend evening fly tying gathering here at the Fly Bar this spring. April is a tough month, and it looks like March is even tougher, so I am looking for the right date to drop this on you fine fly tiers – of all experience levels. We will have refreshments and food – since simply tying flies is not much of a draw these days … times used to be so much more simple, didn’t they?

There was a grand total of one positive (yea) response to the question: Should I undertake a new FlyPodCast for your entertainment and knowledge gathering purposes? So, that answers that!

We my be looking at frigid temperatures throughout the Nation this week, but this weekend looks like gold from this Monday Morning Sidewalk. So, it’s time for YOU to ramp up your curiosity and either hit the search box on the right side of the page, or comment with questions on what you are looking to do. The weather looks so good in fact, it may be difficult to decide WHAT to do this weekend!
