For a long look at what Wild Art actually is, be sure to check out the post – What is Wild Art?

Today’s wild art comes from the Brownsville Ship Channel

I was fortunate enough to have the big gun (a real camera, a real GOOD camera) along last spring when I spotted a name on a shrimp boat that reminded me of home, or specifically my whiskey sipping neighbor across the street – Joe.

Photographs, on their own, after thirty-six intense years of being obsessed with the format, do not do as much for my creative juices as do the things one can do with those too literal renditions. The Whiskey Joe is a perfect example of how to transform one of my average images into another, more appealing, less photographic style.

Texas Sand Bass Killer Clouser Minnow Fly
Product Details

Sold nowhere but here, the sand bass Clouser is unique for one and only one reason; it is tied on the nearly extinct Mustad 39994 #4 Circle Jig hook. It is a typical Clouser pattern RED X WHITE tied by me, but is especially great because of the circle hook which is no longer made by Mustad. This fly is NOT to be considered a saltwater fly because that hook is not a saltwater hook.

Watch my video to learn why this is such a great fly for the Texas sand bass runs, and be sure to check out the HOOK! This hook is sold separately so that you can tie your own version, and change colors on a baseline bass hook that never quits sticking.
