New Wholistic Fly Fisher YouTube Channel
ON AIR NOW!
Look guys, I know reality is a true biaatch sometimes! I got a good taste of that when taking down the videos I had put some energy into on the Texas Fly Caster YouTube Channel. Those videos, removed, will put some temporary holes in the linkages on this site. BUT, it is supposedly all for a good cause … keep reading …
The Ghosts in the YouTube machine just could not and did not wrap their minds around a eighteen-year-old Channel that suddenly changed names and added a brand new topic to its old mix – The Wholistic Fly Fisher. And upon talking to the YouTube ghosts, late at night and before sunrise for days on end, the consensus was to create a new Channel. Now, I went one step farther and decided to actually reload what videos I still had in their original resolution to the new Wholistic Fly Fisher Channel on the YouTube. It may cause more heartache than it was worth, and I may get my ass in trouble with the Ghosts, but so far, the uploads are going fine. This move also played into the Ghost’s advice, GO IN HARD with several videos to show us (the Ghosts) what this new channel is all about. So that’s what I did.
In case you haven’t noticed, or haven’t seen? The entire concept of an “Aging Fly Fisher” has gained serious steam this year. Forget the fact I have been on this topic way before it became en vogue, I am humbled by the imitators and any content that adds to our longevity on the water? It is greatly appreciated, and I will even share those videos as I see them gaining value. Will those channels do the same? No. Never. But then this is the nature of the desperate beast these days, isn’t it?
I would appreciate it if you would subscribe to the Wholistic Fly Fisher channel – BUT ONLY IF – you will be watching those videos into the future! You see, over all these years I have accumulated (probably a few thousand) subscribers who don’t even know they are subscribed, quit fly fishing, quit watching and some who have even probably, as nature would have it, DIED. And the Ghosts say that is a very bad thing to have subscribers who never watch the videos on a channel they are subscribed to. That makes sense to even me! I actually believe the Texas Fly Caster Channel has been around so long THAT I could be misunderestimating the number of non-watchers by a HUGE amount. Whether you are new or old to YouTube, my channels there, or an old timer? this is a chance for you to help out here a little bit. Watch some videos. If you like them HIT LIKE, and if you think you want to see more, HIT SUBSCRIBE when you’re there too!
NOTE: You will not be infected by YouTube. The ads you see are not put there by me, and there is no choice I make for those ads being there. They are there by the Ghost’s choosing, not mine. My self promos that I do inside of videos are in an effort to sell products that make money to keep making videos, and little more than that. The more of my products sold, the better content gets! And the more subscribers who watch the videos on these two fly fishing channels? the better content gets! And the better content gets? the more people that watch and buy … it’s a cycle that benefits us all, doesn’t it? WITHOUT GROWTH? This all breaks down.
When I said, “I know reality is a true biaatch” earlier, I mean this: The reality is The Wholistic Fly Fisher faces up to the reality of our aging, it’s meanness and how we deal with it and treat it. Denial seems to have a pretty strong grip on most of the fly fishing guys I know, as I look into the mirror. But the process is undeniable. I have always striven to keep my eyes on the prize – bringing young fly fishers into the sport in any and every way possible. That will never end, but I am also trying to lay some groundwork for those same YOUNG fly fishers to embrace the processes I find and show them (I hope they watch too) in The Wholistic Fly Fisher Channel Videos. At the same time, I never imagine a time when the Wholistic Fly Fisher will have it’s own website or Facebook page, or any social media attachments. We’ve had enough of that, haven’t we yet?
Wearing Thin
All this said, my endless patience is wearing thin. I don’t see continuing along with fruitless concepts as a good use of my limited fly fishing time. If the Wholistic Fly Fisher doesn’t, as a Border Collie trainer says, “Take a Hold!” by the end of this year (I need at least 500 subscribers by then to show proof of life), I will let it die a peaceful digital death and move on. Passion projects be damned.
