JULY a Completely Unpredictable Texas

Texas is still in shock, myself included, about the Guadalupe floods. The media, in full mainstream mania, has not really broadened their scope as to the WIDESPREAD level of Texas’ devastation. I see clips from Georgetown and elsewhere that give a lot more width to the catastrophic event, and how the media, thinner stretched than ever before, just can’t really walk and chew gum at the same time anymore. Maybe that’s the old-man-old-school journalism degree talking from here, but the coverage is pretty thin, and you can expect DJT to do something before the weekend to bring focus back to where HE thinks it belongs, and AWAY FROM Texas. It is what it is. We have better things to do around us, people to help and the mysteries of a Texas July. I heard one guy on the ground there say he believes the numbers are much larger than our esteemed Governor estimates. He believes as in 500-to-700 are lost.

ONE OF THE VIDEOS YOU WILL FIND on f.8BeThere

f.8BeThere

As for me, I am stumped on a video, and will be out in the wilds trying to work it out all day today – to bring it to you. Spinning its wheels to smoke in deep mud, my own photography website www.shannondrawe.com has fallen pretty much apart and lead me to implement a radical change, and begin implementing it through this month. That website URL will be pointed to my YouTube Photography Channel this month! And that photography channel is called, f.BeThere. It is way past time to have busted this move, but the labor involved? very heavy and bittersweet. I guess that comes with shutting down a traditional website after twenty-plus years of operation and heading in a different direction.

Just a pothole away down the Texas road? I may have to relo to Houston in the next few days for family affairs, and while that seems off topic enough here, it is actually a good time to be down that way FOR FLY FISHING opportunities in more of the real Texas.

Texas Summer Road Music

This summer’s road music playlist is building. Here are two picks to put on the platter and give them a spin in your ears.

It is early in the year, but this year will be a creative one for the music industry. They all have a lot to say, OR that they could say about living in the USA. For now? “The Black Dog and The Wandering Boy” is one I am spinning over and over! I only wish my twenty-year-old car’s stereo would work! Buy the new James McMurtry CD or download here – The Black Dog and The Wandering Boy – and let me know what YOU think!

Blues Summer Texas

Imagine you had a window to a reincarnated B.B. … this guy has captured the sound and freshened the air with it. “It ain’t over until it’s over.” D.K. Harrell proves the blues ain’t over. Thank me later for this one. Buy the new D.K. Harrell here – “Talkin’ Heavy
