“If you missed meeting and hearing Taylor Streit at this year’s Troutfest, you have another opportunity to do so! Taylor has been hanging out down on the Texas Coast for the last month and will pass through Austin on his journey back to Taos, NM. He will be conducting two programs this coming Saturday, March 23rd. At 10:30am “The Trout Fishing of New Mexico and Argentina” (in store), and at 2:30pm “Instinctive Fly Fishing and Casting” Demo (at the casting pond.
He will also be tying his infamous “Poundmeister” fly in the store after his casting demo. Taylor is an inductee in the Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame for his legendary guiding in New Mexico, the Bahamas, and Argentina. He has authored four books: Fly Fishing New Mexico, Man vs Fish – The Fly Fisherman’s Eternal Struggle, and Instinctive Fly Fishing versions I and II. He conducts annual schools for guides, beginning, and continuing fly fishers. Taylor’s home water is the Rio Grande near Taos, New Mexico, where he works with his son, Nick, in their Taos Fly Shop and runs the guiding side of the business. Taylor’s vast knowledge and experience, along with his infectious enthusiasm, make him a “not to be missed” program presenter.

As staff members for the Texas Casting for Recovery (CFR) program Sheila Anderson and I are requesting fly donations for the upcoming spring CFR retreat which will be held at Joshua Creek Ranch April 12-14. If you would like to donate some flies we request at least 20 flies of a pattern used to catch Hill Country Trout, Panfish and/or Bass. You can tie or buy your donations.
