We Have a S.N. Cinco de Mayo Monday
Finally. Nothing much in the way, no weather, no commitments but a two-year-old’s Birthday party today. It looks like smooth sailing, Situation Normal this Monday Morning. You know what that means though? Iceberg dead ahead!
Hablando de Cinco de Mayo, ¿Sabías que YouTube ahora dobla automáticamente los videos? That’s right! YouTube has outdone itself by translating virtually any video into any language you want. We truly have lived to see amazing times, haven’t we? I no longer need to translate my subtitles and read back to my hispanic audience, and I know they are VERY HAPPY about that!
PUSHING MY ENVELOPE
I have to be careful when saying “my” envelope and “the” envelope because many of you reading have already watched live broadcasts on YouTube, and it has become “no big deal” very quickly. Let me just say, technically, to the folks putting these on air for you? It is a huge deal. Right now, for example, I am fighting the software – web based – Streamyard. And I have gotten nowhere quickly. One technical glitch there (on their end) has set my good intentions back a week, and counting …
TAKING A POUNDING
I have taken to the idea of streaming to the Texas Fly Caster YouTube Channel directly when it comes to “Breaking News!” a catchy title don’t we think? And that adds a layer of information for you to, as I famously say, “Know Before You Go” just about anywhere in Texas. My first Breaking Fly Fishing News took pretty well, and definitely has a place in the grand puzzle quilt of this third decade of fly fishing.
SPEAKING OF LEARNING
I did a family fly fishing lesson yesterday for a huge group heading to Wyoming in a couple of weeks. From young to old, it was a heck of a session, and a great reminder of how much I love sharing the sport with willing participants. If they send me some FISHPIX, I will be sure to post them on the Texas Fly Caster Instagram page. That page needs more fish and less advertising! NEW DYNAMIC
There’s a newly minted grandson in the house, turning two today, and he has put a slight twist on my normally self-indulgent senior fly life, or at least I see a twist in that road coming … like the loop of a Hot Wheels track. I better keep my speed up, or else … come to think of it? that boy needs some Hot Wheels … soon … soon. But, will there be a shortage this year in stores?
