Like Fly FIshing
I am not sure, but not stressed by the fact that ChatGPT added, “like fly fishing,” at the end of that recommendation. Not stressed, not stressed not stressed. We now have hard evidence of what the Police named their seminal album, “Ghost in the Machine.” Listen to that ALBUM sometime, end-to-end. Ghost in the Machine is very important in modern music history.
Like Music
Music is another of those stress relievers in my world. Maybe you have heard the new Charley Crockett, or Beyonce’s adventure into … more Beyonce. There is some great music rising to the top this year, and as we approach the last quarter, it’s time to start spinning some up for you and you can be there will be a bunch of last-minute releases in time for the 2024 holiday season and eligibility for awards for 2024.
Like Work
The work I am privileged to do, making and refining these Kydex Sheaths for pliers, and the new Rod Sleeves is certainly a stress reliever. And having these fly mats still going out the door in the background is also rewarding. I could always sell a lot more of all these products, but there are waves of sales I have become accustomed to riding … it’s pretty calm right now.
But the slowdown gives me time to really focus on photography, and continue to experience the fantastic modernization, generational for sure, that has come in the last two years. I tended to skip generations when it comes to “upgrading” gear – because of expense and because many of those upgrades were hardly an impression on the sensor. NOW, with mirrorless and great video built into platforms like the NIKON Z9 and NIKON Z7II? My little company for forty-years, NIKON has skipped a few generations and has lenses and cameras I can sink my teeth into. They are fantastic. At the same time, the demands of documenting fly fishing keep me on my toes with the waning influence of GoPro and the emergence of companies, like DJI and INSTA into the fly fishing video camera industry. GoPro, with their new 13 has proven they are mired in their own hype and original concepts. Regardless of what you see, what you get does not impress me. Translation: STRONG DO NOT BUY. Hang in there though. Something better is coming from somewhere, sometime soon. It always does in this Century.
Like Geography
Sometimes a stress reliever is to simply change locations. Those of us who love the coast, we love it for more than one reason. The Southern Texas Gulf Coast relieves stress. You have no choice. The pace drops off to Island Time, and just about everyone is there because they WANT TO be there, not because they HAVE TO be there.
