Just back from Sanger, where there were a lot of cold souls warming themselves with fresh beer out of the taps of Fuzzy’s Tacos on the highway in Sanger, Texas.
The winner of today’s North Texas Kayak Trail Tournament was Steve Valle, with a grand total of 33.75 inches of Lake Ray Roberts largemouth bass. That was two fish, and I wasn’t writing results down, but I believe the big fish for today was between 19 and 20 inches. Now, that is a fish. I will post complete results once they make it to me.
Ron McFarren tallies up the inches at today’s North Texas Kayak Trail Tournament stop on Lake Ray Roberts, Texas.
Hats off to the participants. I believe I counted just shy of thirty participants, and most had a hard time, with the space between first and second dropping at least a handful of inches. From the sounds of it, there were a bunch of fishers who caught a bunch of nothing, but a month from now and it would have been a different tournament.
Needless to say, I was completely blown away that there were this many inches caught, and it just goes to show … there are some very good conventional fishers who use kayaks as a platform.
A good turnout at the measure hosted by Fuzzy’s Tacos, in Sanger, Texas.
Next for the NTKT, it’s on to Lake Fork, Texas, where the fish are stocked at triple the rate (and an ever multiplying rate) than they are at Lake Ray Roberts, Texas. That’s another story, another campaign in the making.
