Fly Fishing Art Friday – Santa Fe Texas Fish With Attitude

Fish With Attitude Santa Fe Texas Gallery Artist Michael Quinn

As appealing as a real photograph, a gyotaku print, a clay impression of a fish can be; it is also refreshing to see impressionistic fish of fantasy that will only be caught in our minds, an artist’s mind’s-eye and never on a hook.

When I came across Michael Quinn’s “Fish With Attitude,” the first word that came to mind was – FUN! When I see an immediate disconnection of fish art from reality, as a fellow artist, I am immediately engaged. I don’t instantly think, “I have caught a bigger fish than that,” or, “I can do that (the biggest lie to myself!).” I get to escape fish reality, my fish reality anyway.

I’ve exchanged a few e mails with Mr. Quinn and representatives, and will be near Santa Fe, Texas, next week on a couple of photo shoots. I will be trying to get to his studio in Santa Fe next Tuesday, and take a more in depth look at these Fish With Attitude. You have to check out Mike’s blog which shows up-to-date work, and his store – Fish With Attitude Shop.
