Did I ever tell you, maybe you already know, this website is the ONLY website in Texas, based in Texas, run by a sun-fried-beat-down-beat-up Texas fly fisher … where was I? … Oh yeah, this is the only place to find accurate, real and sometimes actually timely news about fly fishing in Texas. THIS IS WHERE you can find fly fishing events in Texas.

I invite any Texas fly fisher to debate this fact, while we stare straight into year nineteen of this site. But before you begin your opening statements, please feel free to search for any Texas (and even beyond) topic – in that little box below.

All Texas Fly Fishing News That Fits

Gathering this event information, from wherever it comes, reminds me of my childhood, gleaning onions, Texas 1015’s out of our farmer friend’s fields in the Rio Grande Valley. If they weren’t just laying there, I probably would have left my Grandparents to their own joy. The Greatest Generation Depression Era ancestors, they know when to gather, don’t they?

Gleaning onions was a whole lot easier than gathering events for Texas fly fishers in modern times. There never has been any “voluntary” communication, like “Hey! We have this event! How about putting it on your website?!” No. It gets broadcast, on weak channels or terrible websites, or in easily overlooked e-mails. Sometimes a distant event is announced publicly – a week before a Texas fly fishing event. How does that work for you?

Even other news outlets, like the Lone Star Outdoor News, have a policy NOT to publish upcoming events, only reporting the event itself – day of – as a post-event wrap-up. That certainly does NOTHING to help our small Texas fly fishing population, much less attendance.

A-Team Anglers Roundup Port O’Connor Texas

Oct. 9–10 — A-Team Anglers Tournament, Port O’Connor
A fundraising tournament benefiting the Green Beret Foundation, with a dedicated Fly division alongside conventional categories. Captain’s dinner Oct. 9; tournament and awards Oct. 10.

The tournament will be a single-day inshore tournament broken into three categories: Guided Conventional, Conventional, and Fly. We have coordinated packages for guides and lodging if needed. Pick the package that works for you and your team. Our goal is not only to raise money for the Green Beret Foundation, but also to pair current and former Green Berets with you to facilitate networking opportunities while enjoying a great day on the water. Come out for a great day on the Texas Coast, meet some new people and enjoy some top notch food and live music by Jeff Canada at the Awards Ceremony.
