What Do You Get When You Cross Lebowski and Joad?

You get the Labor Day Monday Texas Fly Fishing report, of course!

Today seems to be a better day than any to talk about fly fishing in Texas, and talk about the new paid content approach coming to Texas Fly Caster. As much as I appreciate the Lebowski viewpoint on the whole capitalism thing, I also appreciate what this economy has done to create a huge number of Tom Joads as well. Perhaps not killers in the Tom Joad sense, nor nearly as interesting or catalytic as Tom Joad, but we still have a huge count of people who have gone … missing. Off payrolls, off unemployment rolls, and uncounted, and in every way disappeared.

This Labor Day seems fitting to be the one that strikes the balance here at Texas Fly Caster – the balance between The Grapes of Wrath and the Big Lebowski (those who want work and those who don’t). I’m certainly no nihilist, just a stark raving capitalist with a weakness for high doses of fly fishing.

Please watch the video for the full rundown on what is going on, and as I’ve mentioned before, why the move to paid content is happening. If nothing else, you can watch the bleeding edge experiment right here, and see how it works! After all these years, you know I’ll always tell you what’s working and what’s not.
