Water Repellent-ing Your Gore-Tex or Breathable Waders

| January 6, 2010

The front page format has temporarily been changed to prevent overlap of the two Simms videos running simultaneously. Once the previous video (how to clean your waders by SIMMS) drops down, the two story front will be back.

ReviveX is, hands down, the product you want to restore water repellency to your Gore-Tex waders. There are many new fabrics that are “breathable”, or claim to be “breathable”, and I believe the hype. After all these years with a monopoly on breathable fabric, it was only a matter of time until someone found a way to emulate the properties of Wilbert L. Gore’s invention.

So, sit back and enjoy another installment on how to finish the restoration process for your waders. If you are north of the Mason-Dixon, you probably did this ritual months ago, but around here with temperatures finally hitting the single digits and negative wind chills are predicted later this week, it’s just now getting good for freshwater winter pursuits.

Be sure to buy the larger spray bottle of the ReviveX! I didn’t really know how much to use, and used the whole bottle right off the bat.
And although you can sprinkle a few drops of water to test your success, I wonder if it really is completely treated. Anyone want to test them for me?
