“The Madison”
New Taylor Sheridan Series You’ll Love, or …
You may not love another “Dallas” style series from TV mogul Taylor Sheridan, then again, sometimes the scenery is worth the price of admission. Did you notice the fly fishing scenes in the new TV series “The Madison?” I can’t wait for the casting analysts to pick this show apart, and the pure hearts to lament the focus on such a beautiful place, “their water.” This series has a real potential to change the fly fishing game once again. You can, at the very least, expect a huge, I mean HUGE, glomming onto the series by fill in the ______________ companies, travel services, lodges … you name it. This is an extremely HIGH EXPOSURE event for fly fishing up and out west. Get ready!
I had to call on my staff writer, Chet, to give me analytical analysis on another star-studded series from the Four Sixes brain trust. I don’t know what goes on out there in the Texas Panhandle, but it certainly works for Taylor’s brain. Little does he know, I have a true Texas western story brewing with a friend of mine leading the way – using his immense knowledge of the most successful train robber ever – Sam Bass. 👈That is a decades long, slow pursuit. You have to admire Sheridan for cranking them out pretty darn fast! He knows the meanings of “striking while the iron’s hot!”
By Chet –
The Madison is a contemporary neo-Western drama created by Taylor Sheridan that follows the wealthy Clyburn family after a devastating tragedy upends their lives in New York City. Seeking healing and a fresh start, the family relocates to a remote ranch in Montana’s Madison River Valley, where the rhythms of rural life force them to confront grief, reconnect with one another, and rediscover purpose.
Set against sweeping landscapes along the famed Madison River, the series blends intimate family drama with the outdoor culture of the American West. Characters frequently escape to the river to fly-fish, using time on the water as both a tradition and a quiet form of therapy as they process loss and rebuild their relationships. The river itself becomes a central presence in the story—offering solitude, reflection, and the promise of renewal amid Montana’s wild beauty.
