Phone Interview With Up and Coming Texas Fly Fisher

| August 31, 2010

I have had this interview with a young North Texas fisherman sitting in post production for some time now. Somehow, the dailies on Colorado pushed Austin’s phone interview back a bit. Imagine that.

Anyway, please listen to the interview if you want to hear the future of our sport. Austin is a dedicated fisherman who loves to fly fish, and doesn’t hesitate to whip out a spinning rod when a fly rod won’t get it done. Statistics show we need more Austins to insure the future of our sport.

Austin has the full support of his Parents and Grandparents to the point he claims even his Mom calls him “Pondbass.” He started fishing at four and got serious at six years of age. I fished with him a couple of times, and when I say he “got serious” – he is serious. He will fish countless hours, while his Mom patiently waits for him in the car. She certainly sets a good example for Texas Fly Caster readers with children.
