I hope you are not laboring on this Labor Day, as I am, right now working out in the hot sun on the future fly lodge – the 1970 Airstream Trailer. Work is coming along, but I had to take a break yesterday, after three straight days welding on the new Airstream frame. If you are interested in seeing that “progress” take a look at www.airstreamdiary.com.

Today, as for every Labor Day, it’s time to do my annual screening of “The Big Lebowski,” and I noticed even the cable channels have picked up on Labor Day irony, and are showing it as well. The true definition of Culture on the Skids.

Here at Texas Fly Caster, I am awaiting two posts from readers, 1) Joel Hays’ trip to Southwest Colorado, and 2) Immanuel Salas is on location at South Padre Island, Texas. I have Salas’ images on my desktop, and simply await the words.

At TFC, I hope you have enjoyed the post on cove action – below – and I have yet to do the edit on a fly tying video – “Tying the Whistler Fly” – but the video (and you know how much I love fly tying videos) is done.

If you have any leads on stories, anything of interest to readers, questions or comments, feel free to let me know. You can comment here using social media login, or use the “Contact” form to get that to me.

Right now, there’s a premium on good old manual labor on the Airstream Trailer (cut, grind, weld repeat) in order to have a mobile mission control for future fly fishing long term destinations.
