Welcome to this Friday’s Texas Fly Fishing Report. Here in North Texas, we have survived a night to remember. Tornadoes, an gas well explosion (inside Denton City limits), flooding, high winds, an earthquake further south and this morning’s train derailment … and NOW it’s Friday!

Sit back. Escape if you will, and enjoy this weeks report. Key words – Lake Fork, Texas.

For those of you quarterbacking from your armchairs, yes the story from Water Wednesday is accurate – absolutely accurate. And now with a new influx of water from last night’s rain (6″ in Valley View, Texas alone), we just have to sit back and watch as the water goes over the fishing pier at Isle du Bois Park on Ray Roberts, and the boat ramps get closed down sometime soon. How do we say in english … “a perfect storm?”

The water at Lake Ray Roberts Isle Du Bois State Park is now over the fishing pier, and almost over the railings at the pier as of sundown Friday night. The dam was open early in the day, but closed a short while later apparently. There are water marks on the dam, but it is just very high backwash – touching the fence on the opposite side of the riprap at this point.
