Dam it JIM!

| April 2, 2010

Make no bones about it, the palmetto run is still warm at a certain dam (Check “The Fray”) as shown in these iPhone images just arrived late this morning. If you have fresh fish porn, feel free to send it in, so we can look back during the doldrums and remember what we used to be doing when they were biting. I guess I have to pour a little cold water on this post since I was not part of the porn parade.

Shouldnt you be at school young man?

Apparently the flavor has again changed to chart. over white in the Clouser varietal.

Shouldnt you be at work?

Dang. It hurts so much to think about that 10# @ 26″. The horror. The horror.

Well, after looking at the rules for C&R submissions for fly rods, the minimum length on hybrids is 25″. So, the 23.25 hybrid yesterday doesn’t qualify. However, i’ll upload the photo in the forum under fishing reports so you can see.

So, where’s the evidence from this morning when you heathens were fishing?!?!?!?

Also, UKF will have a digital scale and a proper length measurement device on hand today so that we can put to bed the size of these catches and hopefully find a record keeper.

Ray Rob is still producing well. Caught 4 nice hybrids yesterday morning.

One of the more interesting aspects of it all is what i call the fish parade. When you hook one of these 4-6 lb hybrids they are going to fight you a good 5-10 minutes. Be sure to let it play out or you’ll bust one off like i did yesterday, and you don’t want to go to sleep wondering what could have been.

But back to the parade. If you let it run out you’ll move 20-40 yards down stream to keep up with it. All along the way, bank fisherman on the other side will query you as you are fighting the fish and try to get a peek at the festival queen.

What do you tell them when their rig consists of bobbers and stink bait? Luckily I had some conventional tackle on board (flukes and assassins) and managed to throw a few across the bank to those eager to get a more realistic chance at a hybrid.

A parade indeed with a hybrid as the corn queen and soft plastics as the candies.

So someone needs to get themselves a BOGA, or take that massive 6.5# to a scale! I have to take it personally you know …
