Anyone interested in going to Fairfield, Texas, this weekend to make a full-on assault on the freshwater redfish there? I think the combination of (predicted) cold weather and more southerly location of Fairfield will make for a good weekend. Think about it. Cold weather = power plant running full tilt. Power plant running = warm water. Warm water, and cold ambient and general water temperature = hit the intake / output channel. Yup, I think so. Correct me if I'm wrong.

TFF Boards are on fire this week with talks (and pictures) of great red catches out there. One member is quoted stating that he would not return to that lake because of every catch being a red. As if the reds have taking over the joint.
Needless to say, I am all in. The only fear is that there may be many, many more people in as well. Lets hope not. I am game for Saturday, if not Monday/Tuesday of next week. Gotta get another red before heading out to Scotland!

One of many recent reports that have met with success.
Personally I am gearing up for Monday Morning, go strait to the warm water discharge, and through everthing I have at them/including Conventionals…and some experiementals.

Well, if you don't hear me talking about yesterday, you can bet there's a reason. Nothing like being on a little lake when a fishing tournament is going on. Speed boats roaring all around, and the strangest behavior of throwing cast nets on every square inch of shoreline that would, in a perfect world, host redfish foraging. Add to that – this was my third time there without a single fish of any stripe. At least I finally found the hot water discharge and where the fish congregate (somewhat). All day, 9+ miles of kayaking, and back at the closed ramp at dark – to find a guy and his girlfriend fishing from a Dodge truck parked at the bottom of the boat ramp. He jumped out of his truck as we arrived and grabbed one of his giant surf rods that was bent and yanked in a 20 inch red. He pulled in his stringer before measuring it, and on that stringer was one 30 inch red and another smaller one. That sealed my opinion – this place is meant for frozen shrimp and shad – laid out on the bottom and waiting for as long as it takes for redfish to pass by. That place, as it is working now, just isn' t meant to fish any other way.
