Full Circles and McGuane

Was looking through the fly fishing section at local B/N, and what did I find but a book about fishing by one of my favorite writers Thomas McGuane. The book “The Longest Silence” is a collection of stories about McGuane’s “Life in Fishing”, and his writing, descriptions and passion form a mix of visuals that go down like the best of drinks; passionate, hardy, strong and sensitive. McGuane is one of those writers that can’t help but make a skid row fly fisherman want to pick up a blunt stick, dip it in some octopus ink and write it all down.I am not all the way through it yet, but if you want to tap into the spirit of a man … what else is out there to inspire and enlighten my newest old passion?
Rounding things up for another trip to Beaver’s Bend with a couple more local suspects in tow – am leaving Friday and back in Sunday. This should help put the finishing touches on the podcast about Broken Bow and Beaver’s Bend, Oklahoma.
Knew I had some old fishing photographs of me somewhere. Cool.I was so young then … so much older now. Life takes you around, shakes you around and sometimes brings you back around.
